"Remember, Eros, everything has to be explainable, understandable, and with a practical method. If a principle doesn’t respect these requirements, then it is abstract, and not useful to your growth."
My Master used to repeat this concept often. When you speak of Energy, you enter a very broad topic. It’s not simple to understand, and sometimes not even to explain, especially when you lack an understand of certain basic principles. To try to respect the three requirements, I’ll attempt to make this comprehensible for everyone by beginning with a few basic concepts, so as to create a foundation for the principles which will follow. The first three Energy principles we’ll look at are:Energy=Heat
Energy can be neither created nor destroyedEnergy can be transformed
Energy=Heat is the formula with which we can begin to understand and manage Energy. Note, for example, that upon death, Energy abandons the body, leaving it to become cold.Heat is produced by burning fuel. We can easily observe, then, that without fuel to burn, you can’t have enough Energy to train and grow Energetically. There are fuels both in nature and in our lives which can exploit to this end.To begin with, we’ll look at Motivations. The motivation which pushes you to train and to attain your goals is a very important source of fuel.To understand this a little better, imagine two workers. One of them works to sustain their quality of life and to satisfy the occasional craving or desire, while the other works to support his children and ensure that they lack nothing. It becomes immediately clear that the second worker has a stronger motivation, and therefore more fuel. This gives him more available Energy, allowing him to work harder or longer than the other. From the outside, it might be difficult to understand how he could possibly work so much with only a few hours a day of rest. The reason is that the Energy to accomplish this comes from his Motivation -- his family. If we replace work with training, we can conclude that the person with a stronger motivation will have more Energy, and so a greater possibility of growing Energetically.Understanding this is important because in an Esoteric discipline, be it martial or otherwise, where there are no prospective belts, diplomas, certificates, or titles to motivate you, the lack of a strong Motivation will allow the necessary intense training, sacrifices, and inner conflict to cut you down.If you look around, you’ll see that people who don’t have objectives or motivation to live are people with little Energy.Perhaps you want to grow Energetically to help others, or maybe because you want to become rich and dodge some rules, or even because you want to be strong enough that you don’t need anyone else.It doesn’t matter what your Motivation is, only that you have one.
For a Warior, the reason for War is the fuel that he uses in battle.
END PART 1In the second part I’ll discuss using Anger for fuel, and how to transform fuels which give you negative Energy into positive Energy which you can use for personal growth.
